Bagel lovers rejoice – Bodega Bagels opens in Henderson on September 6e. Open Tuesday through Sunday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the corner of Eastern and St. Rose, beloved chef Sonia El-Nawal’s brick-and-mortar-turned pop-up focuses on New York tastes with special touches of the chief.

“Bringing New York to Las Vegas has been a dream of mine for a long time,” said Chef Sonia. “I’m thrilled to open the doors to my brand, Bodega Bagel, and share the flavor and flair with the community and beyond.”


Bodega Bagel’s artisan bagels come in a variety of flavors like sesame, poppy seed, plain and more – handmade every day, with toppings like chives and shallot, smoked salmon , horseradish and tofu schmears. Smoked fish toppings include house gravlax, sturgeon, house whitefish salad and smoked salmon.

But the Bodega Bagel menu is so much more than bagels, other breakfast options include Shakshukabaked eggs in a spicy tomato sauce with a Jerusalem bagel; Eggs + Caviarsoft scrambled eggs, fresh cream, caviar, chives and latke; Breast + Eggs the Bodega Bagel steak and eggs, served with house fries and a choice of bagel or bialy; French Toast Challah homemade challah, caramelized bananas and grade A maple syrup.

Bodega Bagel’s favorite bagels are the Special deck homemade gravlax, plain schmear, tomato, red onion and capers; the hudson river – whitefish salad, wasabi tobiko, green onions and micro-greens; and, the always classic Old school two eggs over easy and American cheese.

Lunch should not be overlooked with sandwiches like Hot pastrami, hot corned beefand Brisket; salads like Chef’s chopped salad, and Israeli Salad; and daily homemade soups, including Chicken Matzo Ball, Barley Mushroomand Borscht.

Rounding out the menu is the beverage component, which includes La Colombe coffee, iced tea, and classic orange juice. A selection of light wines, perfect to accompany the Bodega Bagel menu, will also be on offer, as well as a Micheladaan assortment of beers and pitchers of Mimosas and Sake Bloody Marys.


Returning to the traditional New York diner with hints of Chef Sonia’s personal brand, Bodega Bagel reinvents classic deli offerings into a cozy gathering place. With a nod to 1940s New York, the dining room incorporates light and dark elements, old and new with pops of yellow, gray and ocher, brick, chrome and porcelain. A feature wall adds visual interest while paying homage to the classic bodega.

Even the music soundtrack adds to the charm of the room. Working with longtime friend and former Bond Street and Apt colleague, Alec DeRuggerio, Chef Sonia teamed up with an expert New York-based music service. Gray V to run and amplify a one-of-a-kind playlist that enhances the overall Bodega Bagel experience. Gray V emphasizes thoughtful, subtle nuances that ensure every aspect of the sound design brings the space to life.

Drawing on each of the senses, Bodega Bagel creates a welcoming environment, perfect for relaxed meals with family, friends, colleagues or even alone.


Chef Sonia has been climbing the ranks of the restaurant industry for nearly 40 years. Working alongside top chefs like Julian Serrano, Jean Georges Vongerichten and Pierre Herme, Chef Sonia has worked in cities ranging from Paris to Miami, Mexico City to Las Vegas.

Thanks to her experience, the Libyan-born Armenian-Lebanese chef is no stranger to bringing her bagels and New York-style tastes to new audiences. After immersing herself in New York’s culinary culture, Chef Sonia moved to Belgium in the 1990s, where she opened her popular restaurant, The Spoonful Diner, delighting locals and earning accolades as “the most bagels ever.” authentic from Europe” by the New York Times.

After launching a scaled-down version of Bodega Bagel at the downtown Las Vegas Vegas Test Kitchen incubator during the pandemic, Chef Sonia is ready to open the doors to her brick-and-mortar — a love letter to New York which already has a loyal following.
