Eton College is one of the most exclusive boys’ schools in the world. Having educated people like Prince William and Prince Harryas well as the current Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Oscar-winning actor Eddie Redmayne, Windsor’s elite private school is renowned for its high academic standards and star-studded alumni.

With tuition fees reaching up to £48,501 a year, taking GCSEs at this King-endorsed boarding school is nothing short of luxury. Most impressive are the indulgent menus served three times a day, where students are treated to dishes prepared by world-class chefs and the Queenfavorite afternoon tea.

According to Eton caterers, Sodexo, boarding school breakfast is nothing less than an all-inclusive holiday resort. The website reads: “We pride ourselves on making everything from scratch, starting with fresh bread every day.”

“The boys love the wide variety of foods, starting with breakfast, which includes cereal, a porridge bar, homemade granola, a selection of cooked meals, continental meats and cheeses and a different smoothie every day and, unbelievably, nine types of milk!” Imagine this spread!

Another term for a mid-morning snack, Prince William and Harry would have enjoyed this as pupils. Around 11 a.m., a crowd of treats called Chambers are offered to the boys. From cookies to glazed buns and burgers, the boys can enjoy a hearty snack before lunch. Some pensions even have their own chef, what a luxury!

When you think of school dinners, you might imagine chicken pot pie with mash, fish sticks with peas or a delicious ice cream cake and custard – but not at Eton. Students are treated to delicious meals from around the world, with choices fit for a king.
Even the Queen dined at Eton College
Sodexo writes: “Our core menus contain both traditional and cutting-edge foods from around the world. [boys’] favorites remain roasted Dingley Dell pork, lasagna, lamb kleftiko and Jamaican jerk chicken with plantain. Lunch and dinner also introduce the boys to the most amazing salad bar and on Saturday night they enjoy new street food themed flavor profiles.”
Dinner at Eton College is described as “an experience based on food grown and produced in Britain” with an “interest in international cuisine”.
On the menu are vegan bao buns with pulled jackfruit and sweet celeriac salad, Dominican chimichurri burgers with smoked mayonnaise in a brioche bun, and Vietnamese pork banh mi with sriracha tahini sauce.
Prince William learned some useful cooking skills during his time at Eton
It’s not just on weekdays that the boys feed on five-star food. On busy summer Saturday afternoons, Eton’s catering team serve ‘up to 1500 teas for parents and boys, involved in cricket, tennis and athletics’.
