Room Member of the Week: Trunnell’s Farm Market and Gourmet Deli on KY 54

Trunnell’s Farm Market and Gourmet Deli on KY 54 has been bringing tasty sandwiches and savory soups to the East Side of Owensboro since 2016. The location – which is an extension of the Farm’s flagship store and family entertainment acre on KY 431 – features fresh produce, an elaborate selection of homemade fudge, flowers and plants, and more.

The aroma of an eloquent selection of Jim Bean candles and fresh floral arrangements, stretching outside, greets guests at the door. Customers can also find the latest seasonal gifts and decor to enhance any holiday experience.

KY locations 54 and 431 now have hanging baskets, annuals, tropicals and perennials. Visit their Facebook page here for a chance to win a 10 to 12 inch hanging basket, given out on the Monday of each week.

Fourth generation farmer Kevin Trunnell and his family own and operate the farm and market. Kevin works diligently with his father, Edward, to produce the freshest crops, enhancing the produce shopping experience at both locations.

Trunnell’s traces its humble beginnings back to 1990 when Kevin planted an acre of sweet corn and started selling it out of the back of his truck in his front yard. In 3 short years, it expanded to offer tomatoes and moved into an old tobacco barn with a lean-to on the property.

The market continued to grow over the next three decades, evolving to offer additional products, pumpkins, mums and other fall decorations. They opened a newly built market on KY 431 in June 2008, adding the Family Fun Acre in 2009 to provide education and entertainment for families and groups.

Seven years later, they added the market on KY 54 next to Lake Forest and launched headlong into the deli, coffee and restaurant industry. A staple at both places is the wide range of fresh breads that lure you in with a charming aroma as soon as you step out of your car.

KY 54’s menu features soups, salads, sandwiches, cold meats and cheeses, charcuterie platters, and Riley’s soda. Customers can also pour and bottle their own olive oil and vinegar and grind their own peanut butter.

The catering menu offers an assortment of deli salads, fruit and vegetable platters, sandwich and wrap platters, desserts, and more. See the whole catering and party menu here.

Mainstays on the menu include the 54 Hot Brown or KY French Dip sandwich. For the whole experience, customers can accompany their sandwiches with a creamy potato soup and a chocolate éclair for dessert.

Trunnell’s Farm Market and Gourmet Deli on KY 54 offer takeout and delivery through DoorDash. Access the full menu here.
