New York Islanders integrate Verizon’s BlueJeans to enhance HOMEICE experience

NEW YORK – Verizon Business today announced that the New York Islanders are using BlueJeans by Verizon to offer video viewing parties on their HOMEICE Experience platform within the UBS Arena mobile app. Leveraging the BlueJeans Software Development Kit (SDK), the new BlueJeans Meetings feature for HOMEICE, powered by HomeTurf, will be available as an in-app “second screen” experience for fans who want to connect live via video with their friends and their favorite team during the games progress.

As part of an ongoing collaboration with Verizon to power the hockey fan experience with technology and the Verizon 5G Ultra Wideband network, the integration of BlueJeans Meetings will complement chat, trivia, polls and other features. of existing Islanders HOMEICE scoreboards available during games for fans around the world. further simulating the arena experience through face-to-face fan engagement. Bringing the HOMEICE chat to life, fans in all cities can choose to share the Islanders gaming experience on BlueJeans with others in the main chat room or split into separate chats.

HOMEICE lets fans chat live with NHL alumni and insiders, score points and win prizes by taking quizzes and polls while watching the game. By hosting focus groups with fans, Islanders have been able to come up with new shows and features in HOMEICE that build on its community outreach and engagement efforts. The addition of BlueJeans video conferencing will provide another layer of privacy for the Islanders’ dispersed fan base. Additionally, by making the same programming available to fans inside and outside the arena, the New York Islanders are looking to gamification as a way to generate more equity by ensuring that all fans have the best seat in the house.
