The latest data suggests the statewide lockdown in NSW is costing businesses $ 228 million per week in lost reservations and events.

“The restaurant and catering have made a bid to the NSW government… we have called for reasonable density restrictions and reasonable caps for hotel businesses once we hit that 70% threshold because our industry has been the most hit hard throughout the pandemic, “Restaurant and Catering Association CEO Wes Lambert told Sky News Australia.

“We just can’t survive a spring and early summer with just a few customers.

“Ultimately, we are working with the Government of New South Wales to hopefully develop a roadmap that makes sense for the entire hospitality industry and will open us up as quickly as possible with so much as many clients as possible and with as few restrictions as possible for health reasons. . ”

Despite being the hardest hit, Lambert says many business owners are optimistic and can see a way out of the pandemic.

“Certainly many have told us that they are starting to take reservations and see the light at the end of the tunnel,” he said.
