Institute of Hospitality Expands Diversity and Inclusion Strategy with Launch of IoH Scholarship Fund

As a UK registered charity, the Institute of Hospitality (IoH) has announced the launch of a scholarship fund as part of the next phase of its diversity and inclusion strategy.

Robert Richardson FIH, Managing Director, Institute of Hospitality

The IoH Scholarship Fund was established to help raise funds to subsidize talented individuals whose circumstances may prevent them from joining the Institute and say #imin to accessing the wealth of IoH resources. These resources include mentoring, personal and professional development, and networking with our hotel family around the world.

Robert Richardson FIH and CEO of IoH explained: “The IoH Exchange is our latest initiative to activate our IoH Diversity and Inclusion Strategy and is in line with Sustainable Development Goal 16 of the United Nations (UN).

“We want to offer people of different ages, ethnicities, genders, cultures and origins around the world the opportunity to join our IoH family and grow within the industry.

“Personal circumstances should not be a barrier to an individual’s ability to thrive and prosper. “ Brand Director, Kathy Dyball MIH

The hotel recruitment platform has already pledged a large donation to the IoH scholarship fund. Brand Manager Kathy Dyball MIH commented: “A fair approach to career progression is crucial to enabling all talent to shine within the hospitality industry. This important IoH scholarship will help remove barriers and elevate those who would otherwise have been prevented from reaching their potential. It’s vitally important that everyone has access to the same opportunities for growth and advancement, and that’s why is so keen to support via donation. I urge anyone who is worried about future talent in the industry to give what they can to this fantastic cause.

Managed by a Steering Group of IoH Fellows, the scholarship application process will be led by Joanne Smith MIH, with details available in the New Year.

Along with the IoH Scholarship Fund, the Institute has also partnered with Amazon Smile as part of their “charitable donation” program. By buying from Amazon and listing the Institute of Hospitality as “your charity of choice,” the money raised will also go directly into the IoH scholarship fund. Any funds raised through the award-winning IoH Diversity Shield will also increase the scholarship.

Direct donations to the IoH Scholarship Fund can be made here.
