Hand-drawn noodle restaurant to bring a taste of Chinese culture to southwest Rochester
With each dish, owner Sansan Chan says the noodles will be prepared in-house using various techniques, spices, and ingredients.
“These are not machine-made noodles or frozen noodles – these are fresh, hand-made noodles,” Chan said by email. “Chinese noodles are known to have a refined taste and finish around the world.”
By allowing diners to watch the noodle masters in their crafts, Chan says she hopes to bring authentic Chinese culture to the Mediterranean city – while using the business to honor the contributions of previous generations.
“Our parents and many of our family have worked so hard since we were little,” Chan wrote. “They inspire us and show us how important it is to work hard during our youth, to achieve economic independence and freedom, to provide a better guarantee for the quality of life of our families and to continue to inspire our next generation. “
First Noodle plans to start serving the hand-drawn, knife-shaved noodles in November. The company will offer meals on site and to take away.
New tavern in the northeast
Rochester diners who wish to stay on the north side of town will soon have another option for food and drink.
Tavern on 22 is slated to open in the coming weeks at 3401 Northern Valley Place NE, not far from the Whistle Binkies Olde World Pub, Jenpachi Japanese Steak House and the new Purple Goat restaurant.
The business, dubbed a neighborhood grill, will be run by Scott Schneider, former managing partner of Wicked Moose.
Expansion of the brewery
After three years of activity, an expansion is required to Beer thesis project.
The brewery on Tuesday announced plans to close its front patio, while knocking down a few walls to create 30 additional seats, more fermentation space and opportunities for larger events.
The improvements, according to Thesis, will also allow better lines of sight on the stage, which is used for regular musical performances.
