Falguni and Shane Peacock announce a return to New York Fashion Week

At an intimate dinner party at Priyanka Chopra-Jonas and Maneesh Goyal’s trendy New York Indian restaurant, Indian husband and wife fashion design duo Sona and Shane and Falguni Peacock were welcomed to the Big Apple by a crowd of notables, supporters, and friends.

During the evening, the couple were celebrated and toasted by hosts Anjula Acharia, CEO A-Series Investments and Management, Alvina Patel Buxani, Vice President of Brand Marketing and Commercial, Farfetch, and restaurateur Goyal, where Shane also broke the news of their brand’s return to New York Fashion Week in Spring 2023.

The couple’s line, called Falguni Shane Peacock, paraded at New York Fashion Week for ten seasons until their final show in Fall/Winter 2015. The couple had made some new strategic decisions for the company, which which prompted them to stop parading in New York in order to convey a new vision of the brand.

“When we pulled out of New York Fashion Week, we weren’t doing Indian clothes yet, and that’s when Falguni and I decided we wanted to start,” Shane explains. “So in 2016 we launched the new Indian label and since then we have taken the business forward to become one of the best Indian designers in the business.”

As they built up the Indian side of the business, they also continued to create western style clothing and currently have several collections which cover men’s, Indian bridal tailoring, western tailoring, athleisure and advanced contemporary women. They have also created a limited edition collection of hand-knotted rugs and plan to launch beauty products and accessories in the future.

“They created a dream, they sell a dream, and then the dream comes to life for the customer through their incredible work, their cuts, their silhouettes and the way the clothes drape the body,” says Acharia. “I also believe that Instagram as a platform has created global demand for this brand. Many people shop through Instagram these days and Falguni and Shane’s Instagram is a vision board for people who want to play in the lifestyle they’ve created.

It’s the craftsmanship Acharia speaks of – all Peacock merchandise is hand-embroidered and beaded – that has earned the designers a legion of celebrity fans from Britney Spears to Beyonce while their garments have appeared on hundreds of Met Gala red carpets at the Cannes Film Festival.

“Since 2016, we have opened six stores and we would like to open four more this year,” says Falguni. “We also looked at potential properties for a store in New York. We already have an office in the city and our CEO is based in New York, so it makes sense for us to have a bigger presence here.
